You look like you have it together.
Inside, you’re stretched thin, exhausted, or emotionally shut down.

I work with adults who carry significant responsibility: healthcare workers, helpers, and high-performing professionals who are capable, thoughtful, and accustomed to pushing through, often at their own expense. On the outside, things look fine. On the inside, anxiety, burnout, trauma history, or emotional numbness have quietly taken over.

Many of my clients describe themselves as high-functioning but internally fried. They manage demanding roles, care for others, and meet expectations, while their own needs remain unmet.
My background and approach

I’m Ana Hinshaw, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of clinical experience. For many years, my work has focused on adults navigating chronic stress, anxiety, trauma, and burnout, particularly those working in high-pressure environments where slowing down hasn’t felt like an option.

My clients don’t need to be told to “just relax” or try harder at self-care. They need someone who understands the complexity of what they’re managing (personally, professionally, and systemically) and knows how to help them create meaningful change.

My approach is integrative and trauma-informed. I combine thoughtful talk therapy with EMDR therapy and DBT-informed skills, working with both the mind and the nervous system. We pay attention not only to your internal experience, but also to the real-world demands, environments, and pressures you’re living within.

Together, we focus on:
-
What’s happening in your body and nervous system
-
How past experiences and ongoing stressors shape your reactions
-
What will help you move forward in a practical, sustainable way
This work is not about endlessly revisiting the past. It’s about helping you feel more present, clearer, and less reactive, with more breathing room for your own life.
What therapy with me is (and isn’t)

This isn’t therapy that stays stuck in endless processing without movement forward. It’s focused, trauma-informed work designed to help you regain capacity, clarity, and choice.

My goal isn’t to keep you in therapy indefinitely. It’s to support your independence and well-being, and to help you leave therapy feeling more grounded and equipped than when you started.

If you look successful but feel internally overwhelmed, emotionally disconnected, or worn down (and you’re motivated to do real work for real change), this therapy may be a good fit.
WHAT WORKING TOGETHER LOOKS LIKE
Emotional depth meets practical progress
Focused therapy that moves you forward. Many clients notice clarity and momentum earlier than they expected.
01
Emotional Processing

Access and move through what’s been stuck—grief, anger, fear—so emotions create relief rather than staying bottled up or intellectualized.
02
Nervous System Regulation

Understand why you respond with anxiety, shutdown, or constant vigilance—and learn how to calm your body’s stress response so you’re not living in survival mode.
03
EMDR & Trauma-Informed Therapy

Use EMDR alongside trauma-informed talk therapy to work through difficult past experiences, without reliving trauma. Address what’s affecting you now in a focused, effective way.
04
Practical Tools & Strategies

Leave sessions with strategies you can actually use. Notice measurable progress—clearer thinking, better stress management, and more emotional steadiness.
