Fees & Payment

Clear, straightforward information about investing in your care.

Choosing therapy is a meaningful decision, and the practical details matter. Below you'll find clear information about rates and payment, so you can make an informed choice without surprises.

PRACTICE UPDATE

Beginning January 1, 2027, Hinshaw Counseling will no longer accept insurance and will be considered an out-of-network provider. Through December 31, 2026, I remain credentialed with Aetna, Cigna, and Optum. Starting January 1, 2027, all sessions will be private pay, and I'll provide a superbill upon request so you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement.

Questions about how this affects you? Feel free to reach out.

YOUR INVESTMENT

Private-Pay Session Rates

Private-Pay Session Rates

Hinshaw Counseling is a private-pay practice, which means your care isn't shaped by insurance requirements, diagnostic codes for a file, or session limits set by someone who's never met you. You're investing directly in focused, specialized care (including EMDR from a certified provider) built around what you actually need.

30-Minute Session

$85

60-Minute Session

$160

90-Minute Session

$230

Why clients choose to invest in private-pay care

  • Full confidentiality — no diagnosis or treatment record shared with an insurance company

  • Treatment shaped by your needs and goals, not insurance authorization requirements

  • No arbitrary session limits — we work at the pace your care actually requires

  • Space to focus fully on what matters, without the administrative layer of insurance in the room

  • A superbill is provided upon request, which you may be able to submit to your insurance company for partial out-of-network reimbursement

OUT-OF-NETWORK REIMBURSEMENT

Using out-of-network benefits

Many PPO insurance plans include out-of-network mental health benefits that offer partial reimbursement, even when a provider isn't in-network.

Upon request, I provide superbills, which are detailed receipts you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. The amount varies by plan.

I recommend contacting your insurer before your first session so you know what to expect.

Questions worth asking your insurance company:

  • "Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?"

  • "What percentage do you reimburse for out-of-network providers?"

  • "Is there a deductible I need to meet first?"

  • "What is the process for submitting out-of-network claims?"

Information you may need to provide when calling your insurance company:

  • Rendering Provider: Ana Hinshaw, LCSW

  • NPI: 1144573809

  • Zip Code: 38115

  • Procedure (CPT) Codes: 90791 (intake evaluation), 90837 (60-min session), 90834 (45-min session), 90832 (30-min session)

  • Diagnosis code: provided after your intake appointment, once a clinical assessment has been completed
